The NorthStars defeated the Sudbury Nickel City Sons this afternoon at the John Rhodes Arena by a score of 6 - 2.  Brian Kment was in goal for the win.  The NorthStars held a 2 - 1 lead after one frame and a 3 - 2 lead after 2 periods, then scored 3 unanswered goals in the third to cruise to a 6 - 2 final. Scoring for the NorthStars were:

1. Joey Miller from Jaren Bellini and Devin Shell at 7:37 of the first period.

2. Matthew Mitchell from Ryan Vendramin and Anthony Stefano at 00:55 of the first period.

3. Michael Amadio from Matt Pinder and Matt Thomas at 1:26 of the second on the power play.

4. Anthony Stefano from Ryan Cooke at 18:34 of the third period.

5. Joey Miller from Nick Trecroce and Devin Shell at 18:21 of the third period.

6. Ryan Cooke from Brenden Pheasant and Ryan Vendramin at 8:16 of the third period on the power play.

 

Next action for the NorthStars is next weekend for a pair of home games against the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves in a battle for first place in the Great North Midget League.  Saturday's game is a 6:00pm start with Sunday going at 1:00pm, both games at the John Rhodes Arena.  Come on out and support the NorthStars, next weekend is shaping up to be an exciting weekend.
