Coach's CornerDec 6, 2009, 9:37 am Well folks Christmas is just around the corner and the Stars have only three games left before the holiday break. This year the break will be a short one with us leaving December 27th for the AAAMidgetCanada.com Cup Tournament in Windsor from December 27th to 31st. Our season has been a pretty good one so far, the only draw back has been keeping a full roster. Injuries and suspensions have played a key role in us not having a full roster since October 11. The team has responded well and we are happy with most aspects of our game. However there is always room for improvment and a strong performance at practice is what will improve our weaknesses. We must strive to work hard at each and every practice if we wish to progress to the next level of our season. I would like to wish everyone a safe and joyous holiday season. See you around the rinks, Oct 1, 2009, 9:20 am With four games under our belt the North Stars have shown they will have a decent team again in the GNML. Four wins in four games is a pretty good way to start, but still lots of room for improvement in some areas, as players adjust to the speed of AAA Midget Hockey. Mike, Al and Domenic have been working on some areas to strengthen up and tighten up the systems that have been implemented to date. The power play and penalty kill needs some adjustment and will get better as the year progresses. All in all the staff are pleased with the efforts to date and it seems we have a real good group to work with. So I would have to say the report card for September is a pretty good one, lets see what October brings. See you around the arenas.............. Apr 7, 2009, 12:31 pm With the Telus Central Region Championships behind us another season comes to an end. The Bronze Medal earned at the championships is a testament to the hard work of the players and staff, of course Gold would have been better but Bronze still leaves us as a top three team in Ontario. We would like to take this time to thank all of the players, parents and fans who supported the team all year. Only the season wrap up banquet remains and look for some announcements for some new faces in the near future.
Have a great off season. Feb 6, 2009, 10:19 am Mike, Carlo, Eddie and Frank are excited to get the "second" season underway. Last night the coaching staff held a fast paced practice to prepare the team for the playoff home opener this weekend. The staff is looking forward to a strong playoff run by the team. Jan 7, 2009, 9:52 am The North Stars staff is looking forward to participating in the Steel City Tournament this weekend. Although the number of teams is down considerably from other years, it should be a good test for the team.
Check out our game schedule for times and teams.
See you at the rink............. Aug 26, 2008, 10:37 am The North Stars staff are excited to get the 2008 - 2009 season started with tryouts beginning tonight at 5:00pm at the John Rhodes Arena. All indications point to another great turn out for tryouts.
Mike, Carlo, Eddy and Frank are looking forward to another great season behind the bench. If our summer ice is any indication, it should be a great season in the Great North Midget League.
See you at the Arena.......... Mar 27, 2008, 1:07 pm The North Stars coaching staff would like to thank all of the players for a great season. To those players who have graduated, good luck in whatever you choose to do and thank you for your dedication and commitment to the North Stars program. To those players who are in their draft year good luck with the fast approaching draft. To the players returning next year and to any new players who will be trying out, keep checking this website for an announcement on the dates for tryouts which will be held in late August.
Thanks must also go out to the parents of all of the players for a great season.
See ya all next Fall. Feb 11, 2008, 9:03 am At practice this week the North Stars will begin preparing for the Playoffs. The first round of playoffs will see the North Stars verses the New Liskeard Cubs, Sudbury verses the Kapuskasing Flyers, Timmins Majors verses the Nickel City Sons and the North Bay Trappers verses Kirkland Lake.
The Stars will be missing one player out of the lineup, veteran defenceman Josh Cerasuolo. Josh will most likely miss the playoffs with an upper body injury. Feb 1, 2008, 8:55 am
The coaching staff are preparing the North Stars for a couple of big weekends. Practice this week has been high tempo and the team working on options. The Stars will be without the services of a couple of players this weekend; Tyler Hawdon is still nursing a lower body injury, while d

Josh Cerasuolo is recovering from an upper body injury. Saturday in North Bay the Stars will be put to the test as the Trappers can be a tough team on home ice. Sunday's game in Chelmsford against the Nickel City Sons will be another tough weekend road game.
Next weekend the battle for first place in the league heats up with the Nickel Capital Wolves travelling to the Sault for the final two regular season games in the league. This will be the weekend that decides first place. Dec 26, 2007, 5:20 pm The North Stars Staff would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Sep 19, 2007, 9:36 am Last year the North Stars started a program that we call the "Coach Mentor Program". The first "Trainee" was a former Legion/Carlucci/North Stars graduate Al DiPasquo. Al worked with the team at practice and learned from our experienced coaches Mike, Carlo and Eddy. Al left the team part way through the season last year to join the NOJHL's Soo Michigan Indians as an assistant coach. This year he is an assistant coach with the Blind River Beavers of the NOJHL.
This year the applicant chosen is another former graduate of the program, Frank Kucher. Frank has shown a keen interest with our team and has been an asset especially in the conditioning side for the players. We are pleased and excited to have Frank as a member of the North Stars staff in the capacity of "Assistant Coach Trainee".
