The NorthStars defeated the New Liskeard Cubs tonight in New Liskeard by a score of 5 - 3.  Jacob Kment was in goal for the win.  Matt Pinder picked up a hat trick while singles went to Michael Amadio and Brenden Pheasant.  The Stars had a 2 - 0 lead after the first period, 4 - 3 after two frames and then scored one into an empty net to seal the victory.  Scoring for the NorthStars were:

The NorthStars lost their second game of the weekend at home to the hands of the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves and gave up first place in the Great North Midget League.

Brian Kment was in goal for the loss.  The NorthStars struck first at the 10:10 mark of the first period on the power play, but Sudbury scored to tie it at 5:45 on the power play to end the frame tied at one.  Sudbury then scored two in the second before the NorthStars would score at 2:53 to close within one, until 2:24 of the period when Sudbury went up 4 - 2 to end the second.  The third saw Sudbury score first at 17:22 to go up 5 - 2.  The Sault then scored at 10:22 on the power play to close within two.  With a little over two minutes to go in the third the NorthStars called a time out and then pulled the goalie for the extra attacker but Sudbury scored into the empty net with 2:41 to go to seal the win.

Next action for the NorthStars is on the road this weekend for a Friday night game in New Liskeard, Saturday night in Kirkland Lake and a Sunday afternoon game in Timmins.  Those three games will round out the regular season with playoffs starting the following weekend.  Stay tuned for the dates, times and who the opposition will be.

The NorthStars lost to the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves tonight at the Rhodes Arena by a 7 - 6 in overtime.  Jacob Kment was in goal for the loss.

The NorthStars opened the scoring at 9:07 of the first period on the power play. Sudbury answered with a power play goal at 5:48 of the first to end the period tied.  Sudbury scored at 13:22 of the second to take a 2 - 1 lead.  Sudbury scored again at 10:51 to take a 3 - 1 lead. The NorthStars stormed back 30 seconds later to make it 3 - 2. Sudbury found the back of the mesh on a screened NorthStars goalie to take a 4 - 2 lead on the power play.  The NorthStars scored on the power play late in the period to close within a goal heading into the locker room for the second intermission.

Sudbury scored 29 seconds into the third to take a 5 - 3 lead. The NorthStars then put three unanswered goals together to take a 6 - 5 lead with 5:55 to go in the game.  Sudbury scored on a screened shot to tie the game with 1:56 to play.  Both teams battled hard to send the game into a 4 on 4, five minute sudden victory overtime period.  The play was back and forth for most of the first minute until the NorthStars were assessed a tripping penalty at 4:12 of the overtime.  Action was frantic in the NorthStars end but they prevailed in killing off the penalty.  Then with a minute to go in overtime Sudbury scored again on a screened shot to take the win.

Game two of a weekend pair against the Kapuskasing Flyers saw the NorthStars win 5 - 1.  The NorthStars outscored the Flyers in the weekend set 11 - 1.

Brian Kment was in goal today for the win.  Jack MacLeod picked up a pair of goals, Michael Amadio and Matt Pinder each chipped in a with a goal and an assist while Matt Thomas picked up a pair of helpers with a sigle going to Jarren Bellini.

The NorthStars shutout the Kapuskasing Flyers tonight at the John Rhodes Arena by a score of 6 -0.  Jacob Kment was in goal for the shutout.  The game was 2 - 0 after the first and remained that way through two periods with the NorthStars scoring 4 more in the third.  Joey Miller and Matthew Mitchell chipped in with two goals a piece and Ryan Vendramin added thee assists.
