Dec 14, 2009, 3:39 pm After enjoying a rare weekend off, the North Stars are on the road this weekend for a pair of games. Saturday evening they play the Kirkland Lake Legion 87's and then Sunday afternoon they play the second place New Liskeard Cubs. With only one player out of the line-up the North Stars are looking healthy and rested and ready to finish off the final leg of the schedule, with 12 games remaining. Five of those games on the road and the rest at home. Darcy Casola has been nursing a lower body injury for most of the season but is expected to be returning some time early in the new year, if not before. The North Stars have a busy schedule the rest of December and early into the new year with the two road games this weekend and then off for Christmas, then departing on December 27 - 31 for the AAAMIDGETCANADA.com Cup Tournament in Windsor. After arriving home the Stars then host the Timmins Majors January 2nd and 3rd, then participate in the Local Sault Ste. Marie Steel City International Tournament. The North Stars would like to remind everyone that there has been a change to our home schedule, the game originally scheduled for Sunday December 27 against the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves has been re-scheduled to Tuesday January 12 at the John Rhodes Arena, gametime is slated for 7:00pm Dec 9, 2009, 3:55 pm Last night was the North Stars Annual Charity Game verses a Minor Hockey Team. This year was against an Atom C Team, Highland Ford Mustangs. It was obvious from the start that the Highland Ford Mustang Atoms were very strong and scored early and often as Stars goalie Connor Cassavia was having difficulty seeing the puck as it passed him........many times! The blistering slap shots off the sticks of the Mustangs were just too much for the Stars to defend against. Stars forward Paul Orlando found himself open in front of the Mustang net many times only to be robbed by Mustang goalie Sorrenti. Of the few goals the Stars scored their celebrations after were simply "outstanding". Stars coach Josh Hicks had this to say after the game:" My team was playing so bad I looked down the lineup to see who I could bench, but everybody was playing brutal so we just ran the lines. Things did improve for us when two Mustang players were "kidnapped" and put into North Stars jerseys, boy those youngens showed the Stars were to put the puck". In the end fun was had by all and the Mustangs were treated to a tour of the North Stars dressing room and were presented with a little gift by each player. The picture below is of both teams after the game. Dec 6, 2009, 5:25 pm
