North Stars Earn a Tie in Opener of Kitchener Blueline Tournament

The North Stars opened the Blueline Tournament with a 1 - 1 tie against the Cambridge Hawks.  Scoring for the North Stars was Joel McCauley from Colin Miller and Kelly Barrett.
 
Next action for the North Stars is today at 4:00pm against the Markham Waxers.

North Stars Defeat Sudbury at Home

The Sault Ste. Marie North Stars won at home today over the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves by a score of 6 - 1.  The North Stars held leads of 3 - 0 after one period, 5 - 1 after two and the final of 6 - 1.  The North Stars had 8 minutes in penalties while the Wolves had 12 minutes. 

Brad Pascall had a big game for the North Stars with 3 goals, Brian Nanne, Anthony Butorac and Michael Schug each had singles, while Patrick Watling had 3 assists and Joel McCauley had a pair of helpers.  The scoring summary is as follows:
1. Brad Pascall from Patrick Watling and Aidan Wright at 16:30 of the first period.
2. Brian Nanne from Anthony Butorac and Joel McCauley at 15:21 of the first period.
3. Anthony Butorac from Brian Nanne and Joel McCauley at 9:30 of the first period.
4. Michael Schug from Nicholas Romano and Matt Eddy at 2:59 of the second period on the power play.
5. Brad Pascall from Patrick Watling and Josh Cerasuolo at 00:48 of the second period.
6. Brad Pascall from Brandon Warmington and Patrick Watling at 16:07 of the third period.

North Stars Gain a Weekend Split in the Nickel City

The North Stars were down 1 - 0 at the end of one period of play, ahead 2 - 1 after two periods and then held on to defeat the Sudbury Nickel Capitol Wolves by a score of 6 - 2. 
Scoring for the North Stars were:
1. Brian Nanne from Anthony Butorac at 18:19 of the second period.
2. Brandon Warmington from Brad Pascall and Josh Cerasuolo at 6:08 of the second period.
3. Davis Boyer (affiliated player) from Nicholas Romano and Josh Cerasuolo at 14:03 of the third period.
4. Anthony Butorac from Josh Cerasuolo at 13:41 of the third period.
5. Nicholas Romano from Josh Cerasuolo and Patrick Watling at 6:18 of the third period on the power play.
6. Michael Schug from Colin Miller at 00:12 of the third period on the power play.

Next action for the North Stars is a single game next Sunday at the Rankin Arena verses the Nickel Capitol Wolves.  Game time is 2:00pm.

North Stars Drop Road Game

Despite outshooting the opposition tonight by a margin of 30 - 20 the North Stars lost to the Nickel Capital Wolves by a score of 3 - 1.
 
Scoring for the North Stars was:
Brandon Warmington from Patrick Watling and Brad Pascall at 4:45 of the first period.
 
Tyler Lucente was in goal for the North Stars.
 
Next action is tomorrow when the same two teams meet at 3:00pm at CountrySide Arena.

North Stars Eliminated From Big Nickel

The North Stars were eliminated from the Big Nickel Tournament over the weekend by way of the tie breaker formula.
 
Next action for the Stars is on the road this weekend in Sudbury for a pair of games against the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves.

North Stars Defeat Toronto Titans

The North Stars defeated the Toronto Titans in a chippy affair this afternoon by a score of 3 - 1.
Scoring for the North Stars were:
1. Brad Pascall from Josh Cerasuolo at 7:40 of the first period on the power play.
2. Matt Eddy from Nicholas Romano and Brandon Warmington at 9:40 of the second period.
3. Kyle Paat from Michael Schug at 7:42 of the second period on the power play.
 
Paul Orlando was in goal for the North Stars.
The North Stars are now awaiting the outcome of two other games, which will determine if they will advance with a wildcard berth into the quarter finals.

North Stars Suffer First Loss of the Big Nickel Tournament

The North Stars suffered their first loss of the Big Nickel Tournament tonight to the hands of the Ottawa Valley Titans by a score of 1 - 0.  The only goal of the game was on the power play at the 0:10 mark of the second period.  Tyler Lucente was in goal for the Stars.
 
Next action for the North Stars is tomorrow at 3:30 when they play the Toronto Titans.

North Stars Win Second Game in Shootout

For the second straight game the North Stars won in a shootout.  This time against the North Central Predators by a score of 1 - 0.
 
Through three periods and a five minute overtime period the game remained scoreless.  The North Stars being the home team had to wait to shoot second.  The Predators missed on the their first attempt and then Brad Pascall scored his second shootout goal in two games to seal the win for the Stars.  Paul Orlando recorded the shutout for the North Stars.
Next action for the Stars is at 8:00pm tonight when they play the Ottawa Valley Titans.
