The North Stars would like to thank all of the players who attended tryouts and wish them luck on the fast approaching season. Sep 2, 2008, 11:20 am Tonight at the John Rhodes Arena from 5:30 - 7:30pm will be the final tryout for the 2008 - 2009 edition of the Sault North Stars.
After last weeks tryout the coaching staff trimmed the numbers down to 35, 5 goalies, 12 defence and 18 forwards.
With some players signed there are still some positions up for grabs on defence and forward and of course in the net.

Aug 31, 2008, 1:08 pm With the OHL Camps in full swing this weekend a number of North Stars players were in attendance. The most noteable this weekend was the Peterborough Petes signing North Star draft picks Christopher Buonomo and David Quesnele. Both hard working talented players were drafted by the Pete's and from all reports both had outstanding training camps. Congrats to both Christopher and David and their families on signing with the Petes.
In other news it has been reported that Tanner Rutland has signed with the Cambridge Winterhawks Jr B team and former Soo North Star Mickey Sartoretto has signed with the Kitchener Rangers of the OHL. Reports indicate that Mickey came to camp in great physical shape and worked extremely hard at making the team. Congrats to Tanner and Mickey. The North Stars season officially began last evening with the first night of tryouts.
We had 61 players register for the first night, and only one did not participate.
Soo Greyhound draft pick and returning forward, Nicholas Romano is nursing a lower body injury and stayed off the ice in preparation for the Greyhounds Camp this weekend.
In all there were 9 goaltenders, 20 defensemen and 31 forwards who hit the ice.
Coaches Mike Hall and Carlo DiCandia commented during and after the first night that they would like to have been witness to a lot more intensity on the ice.
Hopefully it will pickup tonight for tryout #2 from 5 -7 at the John Rhodes Arena.
The last tryout goes Tuesday September 2 from 5:30 -7:30 on Rink #2 at the John Rhodes Arena.
Another player will be missing tonight, Soo Greyhounds draft pick and North Star defensemen Corey Jackson will also attend the Greyhounds camp which opens today.
