Today the Wolves play the Vaughan Kings at 4:45 who defeated the Ottawa Jr Senators 4-1 on opening day. The other games scores were: Ottawa Valley Titans 3 and the Ottawa Jr. 67's 2, the London Jr. Knights 4 and Ajax-Pickering 3.

Mar 15, 2008, 10:59 pm On the road in Sudbury tonight the North Stars lost game one of the best of five championship series by a score of 5 - 2. The North Stars were the first on the score board at the 7:11 mark of the first period. Sudbury tied the score at the 2:03 mark of the first period on the power play. Sudbury then scored at the 0:54 mark of the third period to go into the dressing room after two with a two to one lead. The North Stars scored at the 16:16 mark of the third to tie the game at two apiece. At the 15:22 mark the Wolves went ahead again and then scored at the 7:34 mark. With Sudbury killing a five minute major the North Stars pulled starting goalie Justin Hogsden for an extra attacker. Sudbury scored an empty netter at the 0:49 mark to win 5 - 2.

Mar 13, 2008, 10:35 am This weekend starts the highly anticipated Great North Midget League Championship series between the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves and the 4 time Great North Midget League Champion Sault Ste. Marie North Stars. Sudbury had a small edge in the six regular season games played between the two teams. The North Stars defeated the Wolves twice and had a tie, while the Wolves won three of the games.
Both teams are fairly closely matched and the best 3 of 5 series will likely come down to special teams, the power play and the penalty kill will be a determining factor throughout the series. The North Stars are healthy with the exception of second year defenceman Josh Cerasuolo who is out for the year with a shoulder injury.
The series begins in Sudbury on Saturday night with game one at the Countryside Arena at 7:20pm, game two goes Sunday at 2:50pm at the Countryside. The series then shifts to the confines of the John Rhodes Arena in Sault Ste. Marie with a pair of games, Saturday March 22 at 7:00pm and Sunday March 23 at 2:00pm. The win gives the North Stars a commanding two games to none lead in the best of five series. The series shifts to Timmins next weekend for a Saturday evening game and Sunday afternoon if necessary. Scoring four power play goals the Stars took advantage of the poor discipline shown by the Majors who took 48 minutes in penalties compared to 16 for the North Stars.
